The basic premise of CCSVI in Multiple Sclerosis is that people with MS have blocked veins causing backflow of blood into the brain. The Liberation Procedure opens these blockages. It is still unclear why these veins are blocked or how or when they become blocked. It is also unclear the exact mechanisms involved that result in the problems of MS.
Regardless, it is my opinion and the thinking of those who believe in the CCSVI theory that open vessels lead to better outcomes. This is a fundamental principle in medicine: open vessels allow flow and flow is really good. I learned this 20 years ago in my medical training in regard to coronary arteries. It has proven to be the standard of practice in heart disease, stroke, and really any bodily function(bile ducts, kidneys)--flow is healing; blockage is bad. Re-establishing flow in a blocked system allows life energy (nutrients, hydration) to come in and waste to be removed. Basic plumbing 101. Chinese medicine wholeheartedly believes in flow of chi and in fact, blockage of chi is thought to underlie disease states.
Now that I have had the procedure, my attention is directed toward keeping my veins open. The medicines -- Plavix and aspirin-- are devoted to this goal. They certainly make flow happen and prevent clotting. There are many other things that I do to keep my veins (and arteries) open. This involves the world of preventative medicine. Diet is critical. There is an entire library of reseach that has been devoted to this topic. High fat diets are pro-thrombotic(promote clotting and re-stenosis). Meat and saturated fats definitely promote clotting and thrombosis. Fish and fish oil, fruits, vegetables, soy, beans, and nuts and seeds all decrease clottability and re-stenosis.
Exercise relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure and decreases clot formation. A peaceful mind state echoes the changes that exercise can produce. Worry and anger are promoters of vasospasm(blood vessel spasm) and clotting. There is strong research about the association of negative emotions(anger, depression, anxiety) with increased blood pressure, heart attacks, angina and strokes. I believe that problems in veins would follow similar rules. Smoking cigarettes is, of course, thrombogenic and generally not conducive to keeping blood vessels open.
I visualize openness and flow in my meditations. This has been shown to help heart disease patients and I am sure will be shown to help MS patients. The power of the mind is immense and has to be used to keep blood vessels open. Negativity has no place in a program designed to bring health and happiness.
Open minds; open hearts; open blood vessels. Open. Flow. Life.

Friends who are doctors have told me that they have very little training in medical school about nutrition...sad isn't it.
